David Chan’s passion in life is the martial arts. At 10 years old, David started training martial arts seriously because he was being bullied in school. It wasn’t long for David to learn the techniques he needed, and gain the confidence necessary to defend himself. Fascinated with martial arts competitions, David went on to be a competitor in the sport of martial arts. He competed nationally and internationally in the sport of Karate. After years of dedicated training, David became a certified Uechi-Ryu Karate black belt instructor.
David enlisted in the US Army in 2008, and became a certified Army Combatives instructor. He learned about the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu connection in Army Combatives, and has sought to learn Gracie Jiu-Jitsu to its fullest. David consistently visits the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy Headquarters in Torrance, CA., and visits Certified Training Centers across the country. He also studies regularly on Gracie University to stay current with the latest lessons being released. David graduated from the Instructor Certification Program in January 2014. David’s life mission is to empower as many people as possible through the martial arts.
